Letterbox Love (21) Book Bloggers Went a Book Buying!

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

So this week I got kidnapped up to Bakewell for bookish shenanigans with Rach and Ellie *waves*, and when book lovers get together we buy books! I had a lovely day visiting Ellie's bookshop, eating some delicious chocolate crackle in the office, talking books and everything else under the sun and painting Bakewell red nerd style! Raiding the charity shops and discount book shops, we know how to roll people! So of course I got a few bookish goodies that I'll share in this post but first let's get on to review books!

 For Review

Geek Girl by Holly Smale - This sounds like such a Jess book!
Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake - Excited to read this sequel to Anna Dressed in Blood.
The Hit by Melvin Burgess (Proof Copy)- This has such an incredible premise, sounds a little like the movie Limitless.
Between the Lines by Tammara Webber - Loved Easy so I'm excited to read this one.
Barely Breathing by Rebecca Donovan - I still need to read the first book but I'm glad to have the sequel on hand!

 Pre-Orders

Pivot Point by Kasie West - This sounds incredible! I wish I could see the outcome of my choices. Plus I've heard amazing things about it. One of my most anticipated books of the year!
Sever by Lauren DeStefano - The last book! *Le sob*

 Bargain Books From Bakewell

Graveminder by Melissa Marr - £2 bargain couldn't resist!
The Book of Summers by Emylia Hall - I've wanted to read this one for such a long time so when I saw it in Ellie's shop I snatched this baby right up!
Pear Shaped by Stella Newman - Another £2 clearance bargain, I've heard good things about this and it's a foodie chick-lit - my favourite kind!
I Heart Vegas by Lindsey Kelk - So I haven't actually started this series yet BUT I have the first 3 books so when I noticed this was £2 I figured why not you know? I'll really have to get on to this series soon.

 Bookish Goodies!

Yeah, yeah, I got yet MORE bookmarks, I just can't help myself, I have a problem. I also got this lovely book journal I've had my old one for 5 years now and it's kinda falling apart and I fell in love with this one and it was the last one Ellie had in stock so I bought it with a generous discount from Miss Ellie ;). I also got some Geek Girl swag along with my copy and I've proudly attached the pin to my book bag along with my Nerdfighter pin, Mockingjay pin, and Time Turner Keyring. Coolest. Book Bag. EVER!

E-Books For Review

Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham - Gilmore Girl love!
The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa - EXCITEMENT OVERLOAD!
Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza
The Disgrace of Kitty Grey by Mary Hooper
Towering by Alex Flinn
Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith - This sounds like another Jess book
Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider

That’s it from me for another week! If any of these books have caught your eye and you’d like to find out more about them simply click on the title and the link will take you to Goodreads for a full synopsis, reviews, and to add them to your wishlists. August Round Up & Book of the Month!

Hey guys! Today is my very first book of the month! I’ve noticed a few people doing something similar to this so I wanted to hop on the wagon and do one myself. I’m hoping to maybe make this a monthly thing at the end of each month so if you like it and want to see it again next month let me know! Each month I’m going to choose an ultimate book of the month and then also choose the best titles for other categories that people might be looking for in a book. Like some people might love a good romance so I’m going to recommend the best book I’ve read that month for romance and so forth you’ll get the picture as you scroll down anyway! Anyways I hope everyone enjoys it – I’ve definitely had a lot of fun doing it! Feel free to leave me comments on your thoughts! August’s book of the month is… Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins! Do I really have to explain why? It was just awesome and if you haven’t read this series yet you really should. Best Plot: The Maze Runner by James Dashner Best Writing: The Poisoned House by Michael Ford Best Cover: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa Best Characters: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Best Ending: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma Best Romance: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma Most un-put-down-able: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Most Memorable: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma Best Moral: Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles Top 3 Most Recommended Books: Mockingjay, Forbidden, The Maze Runner. Bookish Highlights of the month Everything Mockingjay – reading it, buying it, vlogging about it etc; and the book hauling road trip with Rachel and Ellie. Bookish Lows of the month Not enjoying The Iron King as much as I hoped I would and having to come home from the road trip! Book’s I’m looking forward to in September There are so many books coming out in September that I’m looking forward to so many! I’m reading Infinite Days right now which I’m enjoying so far. Halo and Return to Paradise arrived this morning both of which look awesome. Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready, The Duff, Firelight…I have a feeling that Septembers going to be a very good month indeed! ;) So there you have it my reading for August summed up in one post! Links lead to reviews and posts from my blog that are related.

Book Hauling Road Trip Take Two; Vlogs, Mockingjay and More...

Hi guys! I’m finally getting my post for the road trip up! I wanted to get it up sooner but I had reviews to do and things so I’m finally getting around to it now. Last week I went to visit my best friend and fellow book blogger Rachel and when were together we end up buying a ton of books! We also went to visit the lovely Ellie and her book shop Book End and Ellie very kindly let us pick out whatever books we wanted for free which was awesome! Sadly it’s going to be the last time I see them both for a while with Rach heading back to Uni soon and all but plans for a Christmas stop over at Ellie’s is already in the works so I’m very much looking forward to that already! I love both of those girls dearly and just wish we lived closer so I could see them more often! I guess it just makes our rare meet ups even more special though :) Anyway me and Rach made some vlog’s which tell you a little bit about what we got up to so instead of repeating myself I’ll just post them on here for your viewing pleasure ;) The first video is a Mockingjay squee on our first reactions on seeing the book and buying it. This was before we read it so don’t worry, no spoilers! Then the second a book haul. Hope you enjoy!

Book Hauling Road trip! What did we see? What did we buy? What did we do?

Hey guys, so I figured it was time to do my post on the bookish road trip I went on. In case some of you don’t know me and my best friend Rachel @ In the library of ladyviolet went travelling around bookshops in the midlands purely to find books and visit some bookshops. On the first day we went to visit our good friend and fellow book blogger Ellie @ Musings of a bookshop girl who has her own little second hand bookshop Book End.I ended up raiding the bookmarks there as they had some really cool bookish ones and I’m quiet the bookmark addict! I also ended up getting a few books and the lovely Ellie gave me one of them free which was very nice of her! Sadly with Ellie working and all we couldn’t spend as much time with her chatting as we would of liked and so went off to look around some other bookshops in the area, but we made sure to stop by Book End after our shopping to say our goodbyes to Ellie and show her what we got. I loved both Ellie and Book End and honestly didn’t want to leave - however we’re planning on doing another road trip like this before Rachel heads back off to Uni at the end of summer so it wont be long until we can see Ellie and the shop again, yay! Seems as we were in the area next we headed off to look around Chatsworth house which was gorgeous. I only wish it wasn’t raining so we could have looked around the gardens but never mind it’s always something we can do next time! So after a rather long bookish day we headed back to Rachel’s house to do some Vlog’s on what we got up to and then crashed because we were so tired. The next day we woke up bright and early (yes bright it actually wasn’t raining!) and raided Rachel’s local bookshops. We found so many bargains that it was almost like fate and we actually blew all of our money and had to go back to Rachel’s early – this is probably why the fates decided we would live close together but not too close as it’s really quiet dangerous to our bank balances to be together in a bookshop for a great length of time. So then we tottered back to Rachel’s skint but rather content and by the time we had some lunch it was time for us to go and pick up Rachel’s sister from school so we could go and watch eclipse! I actually really enjoyed eclipse it’s definitely the best out of the films so far. By this point however I was starting to feel really ill so we had to cut the trip short there for me to go home and rest. Three days later I’m starting to feel a bit better so decided to finally do this post and catch up with my blog. I miss Rach sooo much already and really wish we could have had more time with Ellie :( Hopefully it wont be too long until our next trip though so I can see two of my most very favourite people in the world again! Over all I had a fantastic time (being ill aside) and over the two days we got a total of 38 books, 22 books being mine! Please go and check out both Ellie and Rachel’s book blogs, and have a nose at the pictures we took and the vlog’s we made (Vlogs can be found on Rachel's Youtube Chanel HERE) I’m now going to be counting down the days until the next trip! My Books Leviathan - Scott Westerfeld The Magician's Guild - Trudi Canavan The Secret Scripture - Sebastian Barry Petals on the Wind - Virginia Andrews Desire - Louise Bagshawe Be Careful What you Wish for - Alexandra Potter Living Dead in Dallas - Charlaine Harris The Bed I Made - Lucie Whitehouse The Forbidden Game - L.J.
